Using AI safely at work

A live SkillForge course, ready to pilot. Last updated 30 October 2026.

This course is for people who use AI tools in their job and need a shared way to practise the everyday judgements: what is fine, what is risky, and who to ask. No technical background is needed. SkillForge NZ (also called SkillForge) is based in Auckland and works with organisations, schools and individual learners in New Zealand, and with others by email and online.

Who it is for

It is for staff, students and individual learners who already use AI tools, or are about to. Managers can use the same course so a team shares one way of deciding. It is not a course for engineers, and it does not teach you to write code. If you are planning an assistant or agent for other people to use, see Designing AI agents.

What people practise

People make realistic choices, see what happens and get feedback, in a place where mistakes are safe. The subject of those choices is the one named above: what is fine to do with an AI tool, what is risky, and who to ask before going ahead. The scenes themselves are shown in a walkthrough, not on this page.

They finish with a record of that learning that they can share with you. The record is a record of learning, not a qualification.

How a team takes it

That is the same private by design approach as the rest of SkillForge. The privacy notice covers this website.

What this course is not

It is general learning material, not legal advice, and not a statement of what any particular workplace must do. Finishing it does not confer a qualification. It is one live course. It is not the only thing SkillForge can build: other subjects are tailored with you, not offered here as ready-made courses. The home page explains that.

Start with a walkthrough or a small pilot

We can walk you through the course online, or set up a small pilot with one team or class. Tell us who the learning is for and what you would like people to be able to do. No obligation.
